The passport of Jabir, now Special Envoy of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, was revoked by Maldives Immigration in 2017 following an investigation by Maldives Police Service.

His passport was revoked while in the UK.

The Civil Court issued its verdict in the lawsuit filed by Jabir this Tuesday.

The court ruled that Maldives Immigration does not have the legal authority to revoke passports of Maldivian citizens.

And that the decision by Maldives Immigration to revoke Jabir’s passport on May 10, 2017 violates Article 19 and Article 14 of the Maldivian Constitution.

Jabir returned to Maldives from self-exile in September, following the election victory of Solih.
