Miladhoo Court broken into; attempts made to steal from safe

The Magistrate Court of N. Miladhoo has been broken into, with the thieves attempting to steal money from the safe.

Miladhoo Council President Hassan Ghassan said that the thieves entered the Court by breaking a window, on the night before Eid.

They had attempted to break the safe using a metal device, but had not been successful.

According to Ghassan, there was about MVR125 in the safe when it was attacked, but nothing had been stolen from the Court.

The Miladhoo Court is operated from the home of a Miladhoo resident since the arson attack on the Court at the end of 2011.

Miladhoo Court was also broken into in April, at which time more than MVR7000 was stolen.

There are no Security Guards to maintain security at the Court area.

A Police Media Official said today that this attempted theft incident was reported yesterday, following which a Police team has arrived in the island and commenced an investigation.

Three houses in Miladhoo were also robbed and set on fire earlier this year.
