Elections Commission has issued permit for formation of a new political party by the name of Gamumee Vindhu.

The permit was issued to founder of Gaumee Vindhu, former member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Mohamed Rameez Ali (Ogaru Rameez).

EC issued permit for another new political party, Maldives Thirdway Democrats, founded by President of Maldivian National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MNCCI), Ismail Asif just last week. Former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor is now a member of the party.

This is the third new political party to be issued permission this year.

Attorney Abdulla Haseen was granted permission by EC to form Maldives Labor and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) earlier this year.
