Piece of Kaaba cover cloth given as gift to Maldives

The King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdul Azeez has given a piece of the cloth which covers the Kaaba, and a Quran written in gold, as gifts to the Maldives.

The gift of piece of Kaaba cover cloth was presented to President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia to participate in the OIC Summit.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office Abbas Adil Riza said today that the cover of the Kaaba was on display at Muleeaage as the President received members of the public who called on him to exchange Eid greetings yesterday.

The Quran written in gold is kept at Theemuge.

The Kiswa or the embroidered cloth that covers the Kaaba in Mecca is changed annually by the Saudi Arabian government.
