Adam Shareef to run for Parliament

Minister of Defense, Adam Shareef Umar has announced he will be running for the Parliament in 2019.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Coastguard Building this Thursday morning, Adam Shareef said he wants to continue serving the public. And announced he will be running for the Parliament as a candidate of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

He will reportedly be running for the Maduvvari seat – which represents constituents from R. Maduvvari and R. Meedhoo.

PPM is yet to announce any information regarding the party’s campaign for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The party is expected to issue information regarding its candidates next week.

Presidential Elections 2019 is scheduled to be held in March.

Another member of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has also announced his candidacy for the Parliament.
