Criminal Court orders Hassan Saeed’s release

The Criminal Court has ordered the release of former Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed.

Hassan Saeed was sentenced to four months and 24 days in prison on July 19, 2018. He has now served out his sentence but was kept detained pending the outcome of a trial on another charge.

 Criminal Court, this Monday, annulled its decision to keep him detained and ordered his release after review.

Hassan Saeed was arrested from inside the Supreme Court on February 5, 2018.

He was found guilty of obstruction of law and sentenced to prison.

The sentence has been appealed with the High Court.

All suspects arrested in connection with the Supreme Court order on February 1, 2018 have now been released, except for former Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and former Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed.
