Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed made an exceptional sacrifice for the sake of the Maldivian people, says leader of Adhaalath Party (AP), Sheikh Imran Abdulla.
The two opposition leaders had held a meeting last Sunday night.
Following the meeting, Nasheed tweeted that he was inspired by Imran’s unwavering commitment in the campaign against wrongdoing. And commended his wife, Mariyam Reem for her patience and courage.
And Imran retweeted the post and wrote that it was a great honor to meet with Nasheed.
“There are many actions we can collaboratively take to reform and take this nation towards a peaceful shore,” wrote Imran.

Imran was found guilty of inciting violence with his speech during the mass demonstration on May 1, 2015 and sentenced to 12 years in prison under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
But the Supreme Court recently accepted the request for a review of Imran’s sentence, and granted an injunction for a delay in execution of his sentence until the court completes its review.
Nasheed returned to Maldives after nearly three years in exile on November 1. The Supreme Court granted an injunction for a delay in execution of the 13-year prison sentence against Nasheed several days before his return.
