President Waheed will speak at the OIC this evening: President

The President’s Office has said that President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik will address the fourth extraordinary session of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), which is currently ongoing in Mecca, this evening.

The Conference commenced last night at 01:30 local time, and its chairman is King Abdulla Bin Abdul Azeez of Saudi Arabia.

All Heads of State and Heads of Government of member countries are in attendance at the summit.

The agenda of the summit would mainly focus on four issues, namely the ongoing situation in Syria, the issues faced by the people of Palestine, the issues faced by the Muslim community in Burma, and the situation in Mali.

The Heads of State and Heads of Government who spoke at last evening’s inaugural session highlighted these issues, and noted ways to solve the challenges currently faced by the Islamic community.
