President Yameen congratulates Erdoğan on election win

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed warm congratulations to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his victory in the Presidential Election of Turkey. 

In his message, President Yameen congratulated President Erdoğan on the majority secured in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by the governing alliance led by AK Party and wished President Erdoğan for continued wisdom and resolve in ensuring the peace, security and stability of Turkey, and in bringing further progress and prosperity for the brotherly people of Turkey. 

Reflecting on nearly four decades of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Turkey, President Yameen expressed his firm confidence that under President Erdoğan’s leadership, the existing ties of close cooperation and understanding will further deepen in the good interest of the people of both countries, and in the joint pursuit of just solutions to contemporary challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. 

In his victory speech, Erdoğan said that the election win was a lesson to those who tried to depose him with a revolution and other means.
