President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim met with the general public and exchanged greetings on occasion of Eid al-Fitr being celebrated this Friday.
The exchange of Eid greetings took place at Rasrani Bageecha this Friday morning, just after Eid Prayer.
The President and First Lady were also joined by their youngest son.
The President and First Lady greeted a large number of the general public, heard their concerns and also posed for selfies with some of the people who attended the gathering.
Speaker of People’s Majlis Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed, Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis Reeko Moosa Manik, leader of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s parliamentary group MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, Cabinet ministers, Acting Commissioner of Police Abdulla Nawaz, Chief of Defense Force Major-General Ahmed Shiyam and foreign ambassadors stationed in Maldives also attended the gathering to greet the President and First Lady.
Spokesperson at President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali reported to “Sun” that the gathering, a custom for incumbent presidents and their first ladies, attracted a huge crowd.
