Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s attorneys have requested a postponement to the hearing scheduled at Criminal Court for this Sunday due to Maumoon’s poor health.
A hearing in the obstruction of justice case against Maumoon has been scheduled for 3 pm at the Criminal Court.
Maumoon’s attorney, Maumoon Hameed said Maumoon’s condition worsened and became serious three times during the past 10 days.
He said Maumoon’s conditioned worsened further last Saturday.
“So I requested the Criminal Court for a postponement to the hearing scheduled for today in the morning,” said Maumoon Hameed.
Maumoon was not able to attend any of the hearings scheduled the past week.
Maumoon, Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed have all been charged with obstruction of justice.
Hearings for Abdulla Saeed and Ali Hameed in the case were held last week, but Maumoon’s hearings in the case are yet to begin.
