Four Councilors suspended again

Four Councilors has been suspended for issuing a statement calling to implement the Supreme Court ruling issued on 1 February 2018. 

Local Government Authority (LGA) suspended two Councilors from the Lhaviyani Atoll Council and two Councilors from Gaafu Alifu Dhevvadhoo Island Council. 

From the Lhaviyani Atoll Council, the suspended Councilors are the President of the Council, Ibrahim Simaau and Member, Mohamed Hussain. Both are members of MDP and were suspended for a month. Council Member Mohamed Hussain was suspended previously as well. 

Suspended from the Gaafu Alifu Devvadhoo Island Council are it's President, Ahmed Najumeen and Vice President, Ibrahim Thaufeeq. Both of them were also suspended for a duration of one month. 

All four Councilors were suspended without pay. 

So far 30 Councilors have been suspended for issuing statements calling to implement the Supreme Court ruling. And the Deputy Mayor of Addu City, Mohamed Yasrif has filed a suit at the High Court against the LGA regarding the suspensions.
