DRP Leader Tasmin meets with Indian Premier

Ahmed Tasmin, Leader of the Divehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has met with Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to discuss the political situation in the Maldives.

The meeting was held tonight, and according to a DRP source, Tasmin shared with Indian Premier DRP’s political stand and views in relation to political affairs in the Maldives.

DRP Office also said that Tasmin expressed his gratitude towards Indian Premier and his government for the cordial relationship and assistance extended by India to the Maldives.

Tasmin also noted the efforts of Indian High Commissioner in Malé to strengthen friendly ties between India and the Maldives and thanked him too, according to DRP.

Tasmin’s visit to India to meet Premier Singh has come upon an invitation by the Indian government.

Tasmin gave an address at New Delhi’s Observer Research Foundation. He also met with Shri Shivshanker Menon, Indian National Security Advisor, and Shri Ranjan Matai, the Indian Foreign Secretary.
