South Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof has been served summons to present himself to police headquarters for questioning over a tweet he sent out in December, 2017.
The newest summons follows the summons on February 1 over him allegedly supplying the police with false information in his tweet on December 3, 2017 regarding former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Jamsheed’s demotion.
Mahloof had tweeted Jamsheed’s demotion was being stalled because he had an audio clip connected with former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor’s case. He asked the authorities for clarification regarding the situation in his tweet.
The latest summons sent to Mahloof for 3 pm on Thursday does not specify the tweet he is being questioned over.
Mahloof said he was ready to present himself for questioning, even if he is arrested and taken to jail.
Mahloof returned to Maldives after months in neighboring Sri Lanka on January 31.
