Qasim: Will not take part in any foreign military influence

Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim, has said that he would not take part a foreign military influence that could affect the independence of the country.

The JP Leader took to Twitter after the self-exiled former President Mohamed in the UK called for military aid from India to resolve the political state of the Maldives. After moving to Germany for medical treatment while serving a prison sentence, Qasim, too is currently in self-exile.

Last Tuesday, ex-President Nasheed made an appeal on twitter to the United States to halt the bank transactions with the Maldives as well.

In his tweet today, Qasim said that he would always have respect and trust with the Maldivian armed forces saying that there are always a few people who break the law in every group but the police and MNDF would remain firm to protect and implement the law.

Former President Nasheed faced criticism from the government and the public following his tweet to bring Indian armed forces to the Maldives.

Following the backlash, he later tweeted that India is not a country to colonize but resolve the issues in the country.
