The suspensions set on seven lawyers have been lifted, now allowing them to practice in the Maldives.
Today, the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) said that the suspension against seven lawyers have been lifted after reviewing their cases thus allowing them to practice in law in the Maldives again.
The suspensions were lifted against the lawyers, Husnu Suood, Maria Ahmed Didi, Ali Hussain, Mahfooz Saeed, Anas Abdul Sattar, Imthiyaz Fahumee and Hassan Latheef.
On 30 August 2017, 56 lawyers filed a petition to the Supreme Court making a suggestion but the court rejected it.
After exiting the court, the lawyers lined themselves up with a banner calling to serve justice. And so 54 lawyers were suspended on 10 September for gathering near the court.
Suspended lawyers include lawyers who did not go the Supreme Court on that day.
With the suspension lifted on seven lawyers today, the suspension on all 54 lawyers have now been lifted.
