Police: We were denied the opportunity to question Maumoon

Police say they were denied the opportunity to question former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom regarding an ongoing investigation when they went to his residence to meet him, this Monday.

Maldives Police Service tweeted that Maumoon told the officers who went to meet him that he couldn’t make the time, and that he would call them later.

The police added that Maumoon asked the identities of the officers who went to question him.

The police has not disclosed details of the case Maumoon is being questioned over.
