Nawaz promoted to DCP; put in charge of police service

Abdulla Nawaz has been promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police, and put in charge of running the Maldives Police Service.

Nawaz was promoted to the position this Saturday.

Speaking to “Sun” Police Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan said said Nawaz was put in charge of running MPS after he was promoted to DCP.

A number of changes have been made within the MPS.

Superintendent of Police, Mohamed Jamsheed was appointed Head of Police Intelligence Department this Saturday. The post was previously held by Chief Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Abdul Rahman.

Nawaz was appointed DCP after Ahmed Saudhy was terminated from his post as DCP this Saturday.

Saudhy had been put in charge of MPS after former Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef was terminated from his post on Thursday.
