President conveys Republic Day greetings to the President and PM of India

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed greetings and good wishes to President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the occasion of the 69th Republic Day of India.

In his message to President Ram Nath Kovind, President Yameen expressed profound wishes to work closely with the Government of India, to reinvigorate and maintain the existing ties between the Maldives and India, founded on friendship, understanding and harmony, for the common progress and prosperity of both countries and peoples.

President Yameen reaffirmed, in a separate message, to the Prime Minister the continued firm commitment of the Government of Maldives to engage with India to realize mutual gains for the two countries and peoples through diplomacy, reciprocity and respect. He further highlighted on enhancing collaboration between the Maldives and India to ensure peace and stability in the South Asia region.

The Republic Day of India commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950.
