Rape suspect Hassan’s remand extended 10 more days

Rape suspect, Hassan Faiz’s remand has been extended to 10 more days by the Criminal Court.

Police reports Criminal Court granted a 10-day extension to the remand period last Monday.

Hassan Faiz is suspected of raping a young woman inside a studio at Male’ City. The woman reported to some local media sources that she was invited to the studio for discussions regarding a project.

He was arrested by the authorities on January 7, from his birth island, G. Dh. Thinadhoo.

Two more rape cases have been reported to the authorities so far, this January. One of the cases involves the gang-rape of a woman by five men in R. Dhuvaafaru on January 18; and the other involves the rape and blackmail of a minor in L. Kalaidhoo. Police have arrested suspects in both the cases.
