Oppositions share concerns with British Ambassador

The opposition coalition has shared their concerns with the British Ambassador Sri Lanka and the Maldives, James Dauris.

Ambassador Dauris shared pictures of the meeting on Twitter after the meeting in Sri Lanka today.

In his tweet, Ambassador Dauris said that members of the Maldivian opposition parties have shared concerns with him regarding the Presidential Election this year as they believe it is not "shaping up" to be fair and that parliament has been brought to a halt.

He said that 2018 will be a big year for democracy in the Maldives.

Opposition members at the meeting include the International Spokesperson of MDP, Haamid Abdul Gafoor, former Foreign Minister, Ahmed Naseem, MP for South Henveiru constituency, Abdulla Shaahid. From Jumhooree Party, former Education Minister, Dr. Asim Ahmed, former Fisheries Minister and the Deputy Leader of the Abdulla Kamaaluddeen took part in the meeting. From Adhaalath Party, the party's Vice President, Ali Zahir and the President of the Foreign Relations Committee of the party, Shidhathaa Shareef.

The MP for South Galolhu constituency, Ahmed Mahloof and the former MP for Maduvari constituency, who lost his seat as per the decision from the Elections Commission, Mohamed Aseem, was present at the meeting as well.
