12 MPs receive summons for obstruction hearing

Criminal Court has started sending summons to the 12 parliamentarians charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer for a hearing on Tuesday.

The 12 MPs were charged with obstruction for breaking through a police line and entering the People’s Majlis premises by climbing the walls of the building, on July 24, 2017.

The 12 MPs are:

1. North Henveyru MP Abdulla Shahid

2. South Henveyru MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem

3. West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah

4. Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi

5. North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam

6. Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz

7. Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim

8. Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

9. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain

10. Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef

11. Vilingili MP Saud Hussain

12. Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth

Saud, Ameeth and Wadde have also been charged with trespassing as all three were deposed by Elections Commission when the incident took place.
