Maldives Immigration has denied claims student and dependent visa services have been interrupted for Indian citizens.
Information officer at Maldives Immigration, Hassan Khaleel spoke to “Sun” this Wednesday and denied the claims.
“Visa services have not been interrupted for Indian citizens. The claims are false,” said Khaleel.
Khaleel added that no changes have been made to the current visa policy.
“We do not differentiate dependent visa services for any foreign country,” said Khaleel.
Immigration reports they are currently providing a document instead of the usual visa sticker on passports due to some updates being made to the office. He said that customers will be provided with the usual visa stickers once the work is complete.
Claims are also being made that the Indian government is imposing restrictions on visa services to Maldivians citizens.
The Maldivian ambassador to India, Ahmed Mohamed has confirmed the embassy has been receiving complaints over visa restrictions from Maldivians living in the country.
Both Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives and the Indian embassy in Maldives has stated there have been no changes to the visa policy for Maldivian citizens.
