USAID-funded water supply services inaugurated in Hinnavaru

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has inaugurated services for clean drinking water in L. Hinnavaru.

President Yameen was warmly received upon arrival in Hinnavaru for the inauguration this Monday morning.

The clean drinking water supply system – funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - in Hinnavaru uses two plants to produce 80 cubic meters of water per day.

Ministry of Environment reports the system will supply water to 700 households as well as industrial zones in the island.

The USD 3.8 million project to establish a water supply system in Hinnavaru was launched on December 15, 2015 and was completed in May 15, 2017, says Ministry of Environment.

President Yameen is currently on a tour to islands in three northern atolls. He is scheduled to visit B. Kendhoo next.
