The government of Maldives and the government of Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to a Maldivian cultural center in Malaysia.

Four key agreements have been signed between Maldives and Malaysia during Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s current visit to Maldives.

The MoU on establishing a cultural center was signed in a function held this Wednesday at the President’s Office by Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

In a joint press statement issued by PM Razak and Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom after signing of the MoUs, President Yameen said youth empowerment was one of the biggest priorities of his administration. He said he and PM Razak talked about programs to strengthen ties between youth of both countries.

President Yameen said he and Malaysian PM especially focused on Malaysia providing assistance to Maldivian youth in the field of sports.
