Yellow alert issued from K. Atoll to Th. Atoll

Yellow alert has been issued to Maldivian island from K. Atoll to Th. Atoll as Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts torrential rain and thunderstorms to the area.

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert to the area from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm this Sunday. It also forecasts gust winds of up to 45 miles per hour for the area.

GENERAL WEATHER FORECAST:

- Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms across the country. A few heavy showers in the southern atolls.

- Surface winds will vary between north-east/ easterly at 10 to 20 miles per hour in the central atolls, north-east/ easterly at 3 to 13 miles per hour in the northern atolls, and south/ southwesterly at 5 to 15 miles per hour elsewhere.

- Winds may gust up to 35 miles per hour during showers.

- Seas will be generally rough in central atolls, and slight becoming moderate during showers elsewhere.
