Monday’s accident victim in recovery after surgery

The young man injured in an accident last Monday evening is showing signs of improvement after undergoing surgery, says the family.

The young man suffered serious injuries after getting hit by a wooden plank which fell from a building located in Kalaafaan Hingun at the Henveyru district of Male’ City, as he was driving by on his motorcycle. The accident took place at approximately 6:20 pm.

Family of the accident victim says he was taken to ADK Hospital where he underwent a surgery for injuries to his face on Monday night.

The family said the doctor reported the young man was showing signs of improvement, but that he was still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.

Father of the accident reported to “Sun” that his son flew out of his motorcycle from the impact after getting hit by the wooden plank.

The wooden plank was approximately three inches thick, six inches wide and 15 feet long, and fell from the house Silver Sand, said the father.

The young man suffered broken facial bones and a long gash on his neck, said the father.

The motorcycle the young man was driving suffered extensive damage in the accident. The family showed “Sun”s reporters the damaged vehicle. The cover parts of the motorcycle were completely damaged.

The family also said they had immediately informed the police of the accident. But that officers attended to the scene after one hour.

“Accident took place at 6:20. The police attended to the scene after 7:20,” said the family.

However, the police media official said officers attended to the scene within seven minutes after the accident was reported to the authority. The media official said officers followed procedure, and had even gone to the hospital.
