Police arrest 2 suspects attempting to stab man

Police have arrested two young men who attempted to stab a third person using knives.

The suspects were arrested from in front of the Redwave Plaza in the Machangolhhi district of Male’ City at approximately 4:45 pm this Wednesday.

Eye witnesses report the suspects had the knives with them when they were arrested.

“The two men had knives with black handles. The type commonly used in kitchens,” said an eye witness who spoke to “Sun”.

The eye witnesses reported the police were involved in a high-speed chase on vehicles before they arrested the suspects.

The police have not yet made any official comment regarding the incident.

The number of stabbings and other gang related violence has been high this year – some resulting in fatalities.
