Hearing for 12 MPs rescheduled to December 5

Wednesday’s hearing in the case against 12 opposition parliamentarians has been rescheduled due to an impromptu People’s Majlis meeting.

The hearing was scheduled at Criminal Court at 3 pm this Wednesday when the impromptu Majlis meeting was scheduled. The court rescheduled the hearing to December 5 at the request of the MPs.

The 12 MPs are charged with obstructing law enforcement officers for breaking through a police line entering the People’s Majlis premises by climbing the walls of the building, on July 24.

The 12 MPs are:

1. North Henveyru MP Abdulla Shahid

2. South Henveyru MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem

3. West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah

4. Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi

5. North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam

6. Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz

7. Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim

8. Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

9. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain

10. Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef

11. Vilingili MP Saud Hussain

12. Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth

Saud, Ameeth and Wadde have also been charged with trespassing as all three were deposed by Elections Commission when the incident took place.

All 12 MPs were given time to hire a lawyer during the last hearing in the case. “Sun” has been informed all the MPs, except for Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain and Saud have now hired legal representation.
