Police Family Association calls for respecting police officers

The Police Family Association has called upon all to recognize that the “police officers, as human beings, also have rights like others, and their persons and dignity must be held in due regard by everybody”.

The Police Family Association’s call came in a Statement issued last night, following the ruthless murder of young police officer, Lance Corporal “Shaheed” Adam Haleem. The Statement said that if we take our lessons from the sacrifice of Shaheed Adam Haleem, the ranks of the police would be strengthened and that their efforts to establish peace and order in the nation would be highly motivated.

The Statement of PFA also said that it was “proud of the exemplary service rendered by the Police and for the great sacrifices by police officers without a step backward, in order to protect this nation from the challenges posed by social changes today.”

The Statement also said that a group of people have recently begun a tradition of hindering police officers from discharging their legal duties, and called for an immediate end to such attempts.

“At times of sadness, hatred and anger, everyone must accept that police officers are also human beings, and that they are also entitled to human rights just as others are, and the dignity of their lives must be respected. Especially, this Association believe that everyone must respect the rights of police officers serving this nation if we wish to strengthen and prolong democracy and human rights in this country”, read the Statement.

The Statement also noted on a special note the service and sacrifice of Shaheed Adam Haleem who was murdered by a criminal while in line of duty.
