Saturday night is the biggest night for participants of the second South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) – which began in the Equator Village, Addu City last Friday evening. The night for the SATA Gala and Awards. The night some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry are waiting for, for recognition at the most prestigious award function in the South Asia region.
Over 450 hospitality brands from Maldives, India, Sri Lanka – and for the first time – Nepal and Bhutan -are competing for awards in 34 categories in 10 segments at this year’s SATA.
Nominees from India include; Radisson, UDS Hotels, The Raviz, V3, Dheshadhan, John Howard, Hotel, Experience Hotels, The Leela, Thaj Whitefield, Forest Canopy, Sheraton Grande and Spice Jet.
Brands from Sri Lanka competing for the awards include; Cinnamon Hotels, Movenpick and SriLankan Airlines.
Meanwhile, brands competing from Nepal and Bhutan include; Shangri La, Barahi, Mulberry, Himalaya Airline, Annafurna and Tashi Namgay Resort.
Brands nominated from the host, Maldives are; Soneva, Amilla Fushi, Jumeira, Villa Hotels, LUX, Adhaaran Hotels, Voyagers Maldives, Inner Maldives, Cocoon, John Keels Maldives Resorts, Summer Island, En’boodhoo and Maldivian Airlines.
Evaluations were held by a panel of judges from August 13 to August 16, closely watched by official event auditor Crowe Horwath Maldives.
Award winners have been selected both via online voting and evaluation by the panel of judges. The winners will be announced during the SATA Gala and Awards this Saturday night.
Participants are set to be entertained with displays of Maldivian traditional items, including boduberu items by popular band 1438.
