President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom says he doesn’t believe he should be able to continue serving the people as President once he’s older, and that he was confident in accomplishing enough to satisfy the people within two terms.
He made the statement during his speech in R. Meedhoo last Tuesday night.
He said he did not believe he would be able to serve the people once he was older, and that running for more than two terms was not something he wanted.
“I don’t want to. I don’t believe I should serve the people once I’m older. I don’t believe I should. People will say I have accomplished much by the time I’m 60 years,” said President Yameen.
He said he was partaking on his current tours to the islands with the blueprint of his dreams. He said he wanted to be given the chance to give the plans life.
President Yameen said he had accomplished almost all of his pledges, including youth empowerment and his pledges to the senior citizens.
President, during his tour of R. Atoll, visited Fainu, Maduvvari and Meedhoo. He met with locals from the islands and inaugurated development projects on the island.
