The Japanese government has donated MVR 14.2 million worth of medical equipment to the Ministry of Health of Maldives as non-project grant aid.
The donation was handed over to Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim by the Japanese Ambassador to Maldives, Kazumi Endo in a function held at Ministry of Health this Wednesday.
Speaking during the function, Minister Nazim said all the equipment donated by the Japanese government have arrived in Maldives, and that some of the equipment have already been sent to medical facilities in the atolls.
“The equipment donated by the Japanese government include 13 autoclaves, seven dental chair units, 10 infant incubators and other important equipment,” said Nazim.
Minister Nazim said congestion in the capital Male’ City can only be solved by improving health facilities in the atolls.
He said improving the health sector of the country was a top priority to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.
