Muizzu: Concrete work on main poles for bridge will be done within 10 days

Concrete work on the main poles of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge under construction between Male’ City and Hulhule’ will be complete within the next 10 days, says Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Muizzu made the statement in a tweet he sent out last Friday night.

The China-Maldives Friendship Bridge is one of the biggest infrastructure development projects undertaken by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.

The bridge between Male’ City and Hulhule’ will be 1.39 kilometers long and 20 meters wide with two lanes for four-wheeled vehicles, two lanes for motorcycles, one lane for bicycles and one lane for pedestrians.

The China-Maldives Friendship Bridge is worth USD 300 million; USD 100 million of which is funded by the Chinese government as non-reimbursable financial aid, USD 170 million through a two percent interest loan by China, and USD 30 million by the Maldivian government.
