The case of former President Mohamed Nasheed being pepper sprayed in the eyes has been sent to the Parliament’s Security Services 241 Committee.
The case was submitted to the Committee by three MDP members, who requested for an emergency meeting yesterday to look into the matter.
The 241 Committee is currently pending reform, following the changes in political party representation at the Parliament. Yesterday’s meeting was attended by its former members.
Seven out of the thirteen Committee members were present at yesterday’s meeting.
Decisions were made to appoint members to the Committee and also appoint a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson.
Police used pepper spray on Nasheed in their efforts to disperse the crowd during the protest on 15 July 2012.
