Court orders MVR 481,600 in compensation after wall collapses on taxi

Civil Court has ordered a Chinese company to pay a taxi owner MVR 481,600 in compensation after the wall of the Number 1 Kuni Koshi in Male’ City collapsed on top of the taxi as the company carried out its work.

Zhongtian Construction Group was doing some work using an excavator and a dumping lorry when the South wall of the Kuni Koshi collapsed and damaged the taxi.

The court ordered that the owner of the taxi be paid MVR 281,000 (at the rate of MVR 1,100 for the 256 days from December 15, 2016 to August 28, 2017) as compensation for the loss of income from the taxi due to the damage, and MVR 200,000 for repair work.

Zhongtian Construction Group has been ordered to pay the amount within 15 days.
