Minister Azleen and Mundhu visits Qasim as Presidential emissary

Home Minister, Azleen Ahmed has made a visit to the Leader of Jumhooree Part, Qasim Ibrahim who has had to face incarceration while being admitted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for a heart condition.

Secretary General of Jumhooree Party, Ahmed Sameer told Sun Media tonight that the Home Minister made a surprise visit to Qasim this evening.

An official from the Home Minister said that aside from the Minister himself, the Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) is accompanying the Home Minister as Presidential emissaries.

Minister Azleen and Ambassador Mundhu has made a visit after the Home Minister sent a letter to the Commissioner of Prisons requesting a quick processing to send Qasim abroad for medical treatment.

Today marks day no. 4 after the Criminal Court passed a ruling over the state institutes to send Qasim abroad for medical treatment as soon as possible in the verdict against Qasim which sentenced him to three years, two months and 12 days.

Doctors at IGMH has advised that Qasim seek medical treatment abroad as his current condition could turn life threatening.

At the hearing in Qasim's trial on Thursady, the Jumhooree Party Leader collapsed in the courtroom and was taken to the hospital. Qasim, who is also the MP for Maamigili constituency was convicted of offering bribes to MPs.
