High Court overturns verdict against minor for Ayyube’s muder

High Court has overturned the prison sentence issued against a minor for the murder of Ali Hassan (Ayyube) from Dh. Kudahuvadhoo in 2012.

The appellant – who was a minor at the time of the murder – is now an adult.

The prison sentence issued against his by Juvenile Court was overturned by the High Court this Monday.

High Court ruled that the appellant was found guilty of involvement in Ayyube’s murder based on his own confession, and that he has now been relieved of the confession.

The court ruled that there was no evidence supporting his confession.

The same prison sentence was issued against another minor involved in the murder. His sentence hasn’t been appealed.
