Maldives Police Service reports its investigating the case of a machete which was lodged into the front door of a home in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
An official from MPS said the case was reported to the authority at 1:40 am on August 26.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and the MPS has disclosed no details.
The house in question is believed to be the home of former Leader of the Youth League of Jumhoory Party, Moosa Anwar's mother.
He has claimed his mother’s house in Hithadhoo was vandalized and a machete left lodged on the front door. He has shared photos on Twitter, which also shows some of the windows shattered.
