2 escaped detainees found

Two of the five detainees who escaped from Hulhumale’ Detention Center on August 10 have been captured.

The five detainees – of Bangladeshi nationality – had escaped after cutting through the fence of the detention center.

Information officer at Maldives Correctional Service, Ahmed Lugman said two detainees – MD Morin Khan and MD Abdul Majid were captured from the Male’ North Harbor at 11 pm, last Sunday night.

Three more detainees remain at large. They are:

- MD Ali Hossain

- Rifon

- Akbar Ali

Lugman said all five detainees were under the custody of MCS until they could be deported, when they escaped.

None of the five detainees are convicts, but under investigation.
