Cases against 12 MPs sent for prosecution

Cases against 12 parliamentarians for breaking through police lines and entering People’s Majlis on July 24 have been sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

This was confirmed to “Sun” by an official at PG’s Office.

The 12 MPs are:

1. North Henveyru MP Abdulla Shahid

2. South Henveyru MP Mohamed Abdul Kareem

3. West Maafannu MP Mohamed Falah

4. Central Hithadhoo MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi

5. North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam

6. Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz

7. Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim

8. Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

9. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain

10. Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef

11. Vilingili MP Saud Hussain

12. Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth

The 12 parliamentarians have all been summoned to the police headquarters and have had their statements taken.

Of the 12 parliamentarians; Ameeth, Saud and Waheed are under police detention. Elections Commission has declared the three parliamentarians have lost their parliamentary seats, and the case is now under consideration by Supreme Court.
