Independence Day flag raising ceremony to be held on 26 July night

Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the flag raising ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day will be held across Maldives on the night of 26 July at 22:00.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Mohamed Saleem said that all Island Councils have been informed via LGA that this ceremony will be held at the same time in every island; and that students, civil servants and island citizens are encouraged to participate.

In addition, the President will address the nation on the afternoon of Independence Day, and a reception given by the President will be held at the National Museum on Wednesday night.

The activities organised by schools will be held this year after Ramadan, and the special route march will be held on 28 July.

This is the 46th Independence Day of the Maldives.
