Investment Forum to change venue due to severed bilateral relations with Qatar

The venue for the Maldives Investment Forum roadshow series organized by the Maldivian government to expand the investment opportunities in the Maldives has been set to change following the severance of bilateral relations with Qatar.

At the closing of the Maldives Investment Forum in, New Delhi, India last year, the Maldivian Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed said that the President Abdulla Yameen had decided to hold the Maldives Investment Forum 2017 in Doha, Qatar.

Talking to the press today, the Minister Saeed said that the Forum has been advertised at a large scale this year and the investors now want to know where the Forum will be held this year.

He said that God willing, the Maldives Investment Forum will be held before the end of 2017.

Minister Saeed has previously told Sun Media that the Maldives Investment Forum has largely covered the east and the government now intends to target middle east and and the western world. And so the Forum will be hosted in Europe.

The Maldives Investment Forum roadshow series began in the Presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in Singapore, 2014. The second Forum was in Beijing, China.
