Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the 7,000 housing units being built in Hulhumalé under the second phase of the project will be completed and give to those who deserve them among the applicants by the end of 2018.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Maldives Financial Expo 2017 organized by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Dr. Muizzu said that there are 40,000 housing units being built across the country which are in different phases of completion.
Highlighting the Hulhumalé project, the Housing Minister said that thousands of housing units are open for building in the second phase of the Hulhumalé Development Project.
He said that the work has begun and agreements have been signed to decide the applicants that will receive 7,000 housing units from Hulhumalé by the end of 2018.
Noting that the Hulhumalé population is currently at 2,400 housing units, Dr. Muizzu said that not enough housing units have been built in Hulhumalé so far.
The Housing Minister also said that way to ease housing loans to the public has to be found. The Minister said that bids will be opening soon to build a number of housing units in the Malé City area.
