Police: Looking into complaints filed by MP Ahmed Rasheedh

Maldives Police Service has confirmed its investigating complaints filed by Isdhoo MP Ahmed Rasheedh.

Police media official said the service cannot release details regarding the complaints, but can confirm the complaints are being investigated.

The media official also said no complaint regarding Ahmed Rasheedh’s signature being forged has been filed with the police.

Ahmed Rasheedh had been one of the 45 parliamentarians whose signatures were given in the petition for no-confidence motion against Speaker of People’s Majlis, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed.

Ahmed Rasheed later claimed the signature was forged.

Following the denial, opposition released a photo showing MP Ahmed Rasheed seemingly signing the petition in front of Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon. When asked about the picture, MP

Ahmed Rasheed responded that a picture cannot be believed during these “scientifically advanced” times.

Thimarafushi MP Mohamed Musthafa has said Ahmed Rasheed signed the petition in the presence of two witnesses, and that they had video of him signing the petition.
