Maldives Police Service has made arrangements so they can sent summon orders to appear at the station through social media.
The new regulation would sent the summon through social media if the slip cannot be delivered at the residence or if the people living at the address does not take it.
And once a scanned copy of the slip has been sent and an auto message of “Delivered” or “Seen” appears, it is considered that the slip has reached the intended recipient.
If the recipient is living abroad, a duration of 3-7 days will be given for them to return to the country. And if the person requests an extension on their deadline, they would be granted said extension after reviewing the excuse.
Failure to appear at the station after a summon order would result in a separate investigation of the case and filed at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
