Algeen made Deputy Minister at Ministry of Environment

Younger brother of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom – Abdulla Algeen – who has been serving as Deputy Controller at Maldives Immigration – has been transferred to Deputy Minister position at Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Algeen was appointed Deputy Controller at Maldives Immigration on December 2, 2014.

President’s Office has made no comment on why he was removed from the position and transferred to Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Algeen previously worked as a director at Maldives Meteorological Service – run under Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The number of political positions within the government had risen to 692 by the end of 2016.
