Vilingili MP Saud Hussain has been asked to present himself at the police headquarters for questioning.
“Sun” has been informed Saud is required to present himself at police headquarters for questioning at 8:30 pm, coming Thursday.
Maldives Police Service has not yet made any official comment regarding the summons.
Saud won his seat at People’s Majlis as a candidate of ruling party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), but withdrew his support for the government and announced his allegiance to former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom on April 2, 2017.
Saud, who is now active in opposition events, declared he still believed Maumoon to be the true leader of PPM, chosen by general members of the party. He said it was only a certain faction within PPM which claimed to have de-seated Maumoon.
