The roofs of multiple houses in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo have been thrown off in the torrential rains affecting the country.
Member of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Saud Ali told Sun Media that in a strong gale during the Isha salat, winds picked up for about 20 minutes causing various level of damages to different houses.
The gale threw off roof of eight different houses according to the Thinadhoo Councilman.
Councilman Saud also denied the reports of a tornado hitting the island reported by some media outlets as false.
Vice President of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Asad Ali told Sun Media that while eight roofs have been thrown off, seven others sustained different damages.
