MTCC expands vehicle rental service

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has expanded their vehicle rental service in Hulhumalé, Private Hire, with three new vehicles.

The MTCC has been running the bus service in Hulhumalé along with the metro buses and private transportation service between Hulhulé and Hulhumalé.

Under the project to develop and widen the transportation system, MTCC inaugurated a program “Fahi Dhiriulhumakah, Harudhanaa Dhathurufathuruge Nizameh” (Stable transportation system for an easy life) at the MTCC ferry terminal tonight with three new vehicles to their rental service and two buses for the metro bus service.

The Chairperson of the MTCC Board, Ahmed Niyaz and the Managing Director of the HDC, Mohamed Saiman along with leading officials from the transportation industry were in attendance at the ceremony.

The new ferries for the ferry service, new vehicles for Private Hire and the new buses to join the metro bus fleet were showcased at the ceremony tonight.

The new ferries to join the MTCC ferry service are capable of carrying 253 more passengers than the previous ferries and the new buses can transport 88 more people according to the MTCC Transport Service.

MTCC said that the new vehicles to join the fleet of Private Hire include those that can carry four, 11 and 44 people.

Tonight’s ceremony highlighted the goals achieved and the development to the transportation system since 2001.

Chairperson of the Board of Directors at MTCC, Niyaz said that the MTCC Premium Ferry Service run every 30 minutes will be shortened to 15 minutes within the year and the travel card on credit system used in the transportation between Malé and Hulhumalé will become usable in all the services provided by the MTCC.

He said that the they would also be trying to establish a modern system for passengers to view their travel on the ferries and plan their trips online.

MTCC was incorporated in 1980, as the first public company in the Maldiveswith the objective to contribute towards the development of infrastructure and transport service in the country. They are the leading company in dredging, jetty and harbor development along with notable work in maritime solutions and home construction.
